Imported from the Amalfi coast, our handmade papers come from the world-renowned amalfi paper mills. Located in the southern region of Italy on the Gulf of Salerno, 24 miles southeast of Naples, Amalfi is a beautiful town and a popular destination for travelers.

Is this real leather?
Yes. JournalShelf journals are made using the softest Italian leather. Most of our leather originates in Tuscany.

It is treated for a month in Florence with Aniline, an organic compound, and other natural ingredients, no chemicals. It then arrives in the workshop where it is treated again by our leather masters to achieve the unique color that you only find with JournalShelf. The rest is a family secret passed through the generations.

What color is the journal?
As with all or genuine Italian leather journals, variation in color, texture and consistency uniquely enhance the journal's character. These subtle variations add beauty and originality to each journal.

Our photographs aim to convey the original beauty, detailing, and uniqueness of each journal. They are a trustworthy representation of the journal you will receive. We include written descriptions of each color as well, considering each computer monitor will display colors slightly differently.
